My Story: From Bored to Actually BOLD in Faith

Growing up in a Christian home, I was constantly surrounded by theology, doctrine, and what felt like an overload of religious “facts.” Honestly? I found it boring 🥱

As a young girl, just the word theology sounded like something only professors cared about. What would come to mind would be dusty books, ancient names, and big words I didn’t understand. I thought:

“If I can’t even understand all of this, how will I ever understand God?”

Fast forward: I’ve gone through college, entered my first job, faced heartbreak, anxiety, and tough decisions. And guess what?

I’ve never needed God more!

If you say you’re a Christian, you should live like one. But even more than that you should know why you’re living differently. Because living out your faith without knowing why is like building a house without a foundation.

I started asking myself, “How can I be more bold about the christian faith?”

💭 What Is Theology (and Why Should You Care)?

Theology means “the study of God.”

It comes from two Greek words:

Theos = God

Logos = word, reason, or study

So theology is more than just facts, it’s about knowing God personally, through His Word, His Son, and His Spirit.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 says, “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom… but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me.”

1. Theology Builds an Unshakable Faith

Theology gives you historical and spiritual roots.

It connects you to thousands of years of faithful Christians who stood firm in truth.

Historical Highlights:

  1. Abraham & Moses: God’s covenant and law (Genesis 12, Exodus 20)

  2. The Early Church: Athanasius defended the deity of Christ

  3. Council of Nicaea (325 AD): Affirmed Jesus is God

  4. Reformation (1500s): Reclaimed salvation by grace (Ephesians 2:8–9)

When you study theology, you’re standing on a rock-solid foundation.

2. Theology Reveals the Full Gospel (Not Just “Jesus Loves You”)

The Gospel is the absolute greatest rescue story ever told!

The 4-Part Gospel Story:

☀️ Creation -> God made the world (Genesis 1)
⬇️ Fall -> Sin entered through Adam & Eve (Genesis 3)
✝️ Redemption -> Jesus died and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
🕊️ Restoration -> Jesus will return (Revelation 21:5)

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

3. Theology Protects You from False Teaching

If you want to become more bold about your christian faith then we have to get something straight…

There are a lot of false messages out there even within the church. The new age Christian trends are actually scary to me.

⚠️ Watch out for:

“God wants you to be rich and happy.”
“You don’t need to repent, just be kind.”
“Truth is whatever feels right for you.”

2 Timothy 4:3-4 states, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine… they will turn their ears away from the truth.”

Theology is your spiritual armor. It helps you filter what’s true and what’s just trendy.

4. Theology Helps You Understand the Trinity

Be bold about your Christian faith. The Trinity isn’t a confusing math problem but an actual mystery of one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

💬 Why it matters:

  1. The Father planned salvation

  2. The Son accomplished salvation

  3. The Spirit applies salvation

John 4:24 states, “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

5. Theology Shapes How You Live Daily

Theology is more than just some facts you read and store in your mind. It can transform your heart and character. When life feels unstable, knowing God is sovereign brings peace.

When you feel weak, knowing Jesus intercedes for you gives hope (Hebrews 7:25).

When you’re lost, knowing the Spirit guides you gives confidence (Romans 8:14).

Colossians 1:10 says, “Live a life worthy of the Lord… growing in the knowledge of God.”

Why You Can Trust the Bible (Historical Foundation)

Many young women wonder: Is theology even true? Is the Bible reliable?

❗️ Here’s why you can trust it:

  1. Over 40 authors wrote the Bible across 1,500 years with one unified message.

  2. The Dead Sea Scrolls confirmed the accuracy of the Old Testament.

  3. 5,000+ ancient New Testament manuscripts (some dated 50 years after originals!) show it wasn’t edited over time.

  4. Archaeology confirms people/events like Pontius Pilate and King Herod.

  5. Theology is rooted in history and divine revelation!

How to Start Studying Theology as a Young Christian Woman

Be bold about your Christian faith. No degree required. Just a humble heart and the right tools.

Beginner Resources:

📝 Ask These Questions When Reading:

What does this passage teach me about God?

What does it say about sin, salvation, or grace?

How does it point to Jesus?

How should I live differently because of it?

🕊️ Final Words: Theology Is a Love Story

God has give us theology to not overwhelm us but to get to know Him on a more personal level.

I try to remind myself of this fact. Our Heavenly Father knows how complicated His beautiful Word can be for Christians (those both new to the faith and those who grew up in it). But He also allows us to understand Him more intimately, truly, and faithfully, even when it's hard to fully comprehend scripture.

Hosea 6:3 says, “Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord.”

The more you know Him, the more you love Him. And the more you love Him, the more you’ll reflect His truth to a world that desperately needs it.

So now, let’s be bold about our christian faith together!
