Feeling Lonely? How to Find God during Quiet Seasons

Updated: Oct 7, 2025

Do you feel stuck, invisible, or spiritually dry even though you’re trying your best to follow God? Spiritual burnout in Christianity is real.

Maybe you’re praying, journaling, reading your Bible, and serving at church… yet deep inside, you’re still feeling disconnected. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

This blog post is for the girl who’s doing “everything right” but still feels like something’s missing.

When You’re Spiritually Burnt Out But Still Showing Up

In a world filled with aesthetic morning routines, prayer journals, and quiet time TikToks, it’s easy to feel like we’re “less than” if we’re not constantly feeling God’s presence.

The truth is: your walk with God doesn’t have to be loud to be real.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

You don’t need a highlight-reel faith. God shows up in the hidden, quiet places. He’s with you in your silence, in your questions, and in your ordinary routines.

Why You Might Be Feeling Far From God

🩷Let’s get honest here. Your spiritual dryness might be caused by:

A season of change (new job, relationship, move)

Burnout from trying to do everything perfectly

Loneliness in your walk with Christ

Comparison to others’ faith journeys

Sometimes we confuse God’s silence with His absence but they’re not the same.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

3 Practical Steps When You Feel Spiritually Lost

1. Journal Through the Confusion

Grab your journal and pour your heart out. Ask God the real questions:

  1. Why do I feel this way?

  2. What am I truly longing for?

  3. Have I replaced intimacy with activity?

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

2. Create a Grace-Filled Reset Plan

Don’t try to fix everything overnight. Start small. Choose one or two intentional habits that feel life-giving.

Reset ideas:

  • Listen to a podcast on your commute

  • Try a short Bible plan on your phone

  • Listen to my free worship playlist

“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

3. Invite Safe Community Into Your Process

Don’t isolate yourself in your spiritual confusion. Text a friend. Call your mentor. Talk to your small group leader!

Or join a virtual community:

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

What If My Faith Doesn’t Look the Same Anymore?

That’s okay. It’s supposed to grow and change as you do. Maybe you used to write pages in your journal daily, and now you can barely get through a Psalm without checking your phone.

Don’t let guilt keep you from grace.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

When Life Feels Confusing, Remember This:

Confusion isn’t from God. If you’re constantly second-guessing, doubting, or spinning in anxiety, that’s likely not the Holy Spirit.

“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.” 1 Corinthians 14:33

Life can feel chaotic, but God’s voice brings clarity, not noise.
