12 Practical Ways to Live a Christ-Centered Life

Updated: Oct 9, 2025

What does it really mean to live and act like a Christian?

As young women today, it’s easy to fall into the trap of letting social media define what a “Christian lifestyle” looks like. We see Pinterest-perfect morning routines, aesthetic Bible setups, and influencers who seem to have it all together. If it looks cute, productive, and promises peace, we often want to try it.

But here’s the truth: when we compare ourselves to others online, we forget that the “perfect life” is often a filtered version of reality. The real Christian life is not a vibe but a calling to live set apart, faithfully and fully for Christ.

Yes, you can enjoy your coffee and quiet time. Yes, you can build healthy routines...

But when things get messy, when you’re tired, unmotivated, or struggling, how do you respond? The camera turns off, but God sees our hearts <3

The good news? There is hope and purpose for the Christian woman who puts Jesus first! Scripture gives us clear instruction for how to live a life that honors Him. Let’s focus not on what we can’t do, but on what we are called to do as followers of Christ.

Here are 12 biblical ways to live a Christian lifestyle all for God’s glory.

📖 Bible Foundations

Romans 12:1-2 - “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice… Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”

1 Peter 1:14-16 - “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance… be holy in all your conduct.”

Deuteronomy 12:32 - “Everything that I command you, you shall be careful to do. You shall not add to it or take from it.”

2 Timothy 2:15-16 - “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved… avoid irreverent babble.”

John 5:23 - “Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.”

Micah 6:8 - “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

✨ 12 Ways to Live a Christian Lifestyle

1. Worship Beyond Sundays

Your relationship with God isn’t limited to a church building. Live your faith in everyday moments – at school, at work, at home.

How can you do that? By being a positive light to others, by sharing the gospel, and by helping others around you.

Colossians 3:17 states, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

2. Be Transparent and Accountable

God calls us into community. Share your struggles and walk closely with other believers who can pray, support, and correct you in love.

How do I get started? Find a local church, reach out to someone on the community team, and learn about Bible studies or events coming up. This will enable you to meet new people.

James 5:16 states, "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."

3. Be Inclusive and Missional

Don’t keep your faith in a bubble. Expand your circle, befriend outsiders, and live out the Great Commission.

Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

4. Read and Study Scripture Daily

God’s Word is your spiritual food and foundation. Prioritize it above trends, advice columns, and social media feeds.

Psalm 119:105 states, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

5. Develop a Consistent Prayer Life

Prayer is your lifeline. Make it a daily discipline. It's about being raw with God, sitting in silence, confessing and thanking Him for His helping hand.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

6. Walk in the Spirit, Not the Flesh

You weren’t meant to live the Christian life on your own strength. Surrender daily to the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:16-25 states,

16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,

20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,

21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit."

7. Be a Witness with Words and Actions

The world is watching and listening. Be bold in your witness and gentle in your tone.

1 Peter 3:15 says, “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”

8. Let Love Define Your Life

Jesus said we would be known by our love. That means forgiveness, humility, patience, and compassion even when it seems impossible.

John 13:35 states, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

9. Practice Obedience

Obedience is love in action. A faithful life honors God’s commands. Obey the Lord in all that you do.

John 14:15 says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

10. Resist Temptation Through Scripture

Temptation is more than just an action, but an action where you're giving into your sinful desires. Jesus used God’s Word to resist the enemy, and so can you.

1 Corinthians 10:13 states, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

11. Pursue Holiness, Not Perfection

Holiness involves being distinct rather than perfect. Strive for purity in your thoughts, decisions, and relationships.

Hebrews 12:14 says, “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”

12. Rejoice in All Circumstances

Your peace is not determined by your circumstances; it originates from Christ within you.

Romans 8:28 states, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

🕊️ Final Encouragement

Embracing a Christian lifestyle doesn't mean striving for perfection, beauty, or admiration. It's about being faithful, obedient, and holy, set apart for the One who saved you.

You were created to mirror Christ in your everyday activities, relationships, thoughts, and emotions. Base your life on His teachings, allowing your way of living to demonstrate His transformative grace.

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him.” Colossians 2:6
